Pest Control SEO
This pest control company in New York city was spending too much on paid ads to generate leads. Their website at the time had some information, but the user experience was poor and it lacked depth of content.
To get ranked by Google, you need to establish yourself as an expert on the topic and demonstrate you can carry out all tasks required of a contractor in your field.
Our Tactics
- Fix the UI for better UX
- Added services pages for each case roaches, spiders, moths, bed bugs etc.
- Added resource pages for content depth in the form of how-to and cost guides
- On-site technical SEO audit
- Improved conversions with a better form and answering service

The Challenge
Exterminators are a dime-a-dozen in New York City, and we were up against some real competition.
Key Problems
1. Other than local NYC players, we were also up against some of the biggest pest control websites on the internet, including Yelp.com.
2. Our User Interface was poor, so users were bouncing, we had no content, and our conversions were non-existent.
3. the amount of content required to gain topical authority was vast as there were so many different pest types we had to write about.

Our Approach
1. Fix User Interface
Bounce rate
The bounce rate of a website tells google if your website is helpful. If users are “pogo-sticking” from your page and going to another to get what they need, Google will not rank you.
CTA and Conversions
We implemented two ways to get a quote, call or fill out a quick online form. This gave people both options.
We tested several different Calls To Action, button colours and form types until we get the best conversion rates.
2. Technical SEO
SEO Audit
There were a bunch of technical issues with this website holding it back. From a sitemap that did not work, missing H1 tags, and no alt text, it’s not a wonder this website was even indexed. It would only improve from here!
Once we sorted out all technical on-page issues and optimized the foundational pages for better ranking, it was time to add content.
3. Content Sprint
Topical Authority
Our money pages are location pages like “Pest Control the Bronx” or service pages like “Rodent Exterminator”, so we had to get all of those in place first. With over 40 pest types, from ants to bats, we had our work cut out.
Once we had all the foundational content and a solid internal linking plan in place, we continued to add blog posts as supporting content.
The Result
Summary
In just 9 months, we were able to take the website from 120 monthly visits to over 12,000 visits each month. Now, to be fair, we were ranking country-wide for a lot of our blog posts, which attracted a lot of backlinks, but local traffic in NYC was 6,000 + per month.
This boosted sales and resulted in the company’s rapid expansion, which is still continuing today.

Competitors Rank
Above You
understand what’s holding it back.
What you’ll know after the review
- Whether your site can realistically compete in organic search
- What’s currently limiting growth (authority, coverage, trust, or structure)
- How long SEO would likely take to show meaningful results
- What level of investment is typically required to compete
- Whether SEO is the right growth strategy for your business
What we assess
- Authority strength relative to competitors Google already ranks
- Topical coverage depth across commercially important topics
- EEAT and trust signals influencing search confidence
- Search visibility constraints affecting scale and consistency
We also apply an internal Search Confidence Rating to benchmark your site against competitors.
What this is not
- A full SEO audit or implementation plan
- A checklist-style technical report
- A sales call in disguise
